Ria Drops Her New Video OWNER from her album: MANAWA WERA
OWNER was written out of a desire to challenge Western philosophies around the notion of 'ownership'. From an indigenous perspective we are merely caretakers, nurturers, protectors of the environment - because we are one and the same. E ai ki te whakatauki 'Ko au te whenua ko te whenua ko au' - I am the land, the land is me - reiterating that our existence with the environment is inseperable. This way of thinking isn't dictated to by a price tag. And it never will be.
At the core of humanity once the layers are stripped away the only appropriate place to operate from is Aroha - so it's about getting back to the simplicity of our existence.
Youth around the world are standing up for the environment. We all need to stand as one under the mantle of unity. With elections looming, this is more important than ever, Aotearoa! You must have your say e hoa mā!
Let those who are in a position to legislate and effect positive change know the time for action is NOW!
Start the discussion here in this safe space. SHARE and TAG your friends and whānau into this video, or whoever you believe needs to hear this song. Me wānanga tahi tātou! Lets have these conversations. We must think about future generations and their well-being. FOR REAL.
